As a university of applied sciences and technologies, Shenzhen Technology University’s engineering background determines the feature of talent cultivation in the program of German. This program is highly committed to optimizing the curriculum of German for science and technology and to serving the university’s goal of cultivating application-oriented talents to the greatest extent by integrating curriculum setup and innovative cultivation of talents. Ultimately, the program will develop a unique mode of fostering German language talents with science, technology and engineering characteristics, which is student-centered, market demands-oriented, professional knowledge-based, and comprehensive abilities-targeted. Through “transforming the major”, our program will explore a new education mode to “meet the demands of industry” and to “lead the trend in job market”. By doing this, the German language curriculum will not merely serve as training courses for foreign language skills, but also serve as an important part of the university’s project of cultivating innovative and international engineers, and a new approach and benchmark of foreign languages ability training for universities of applied sciences and technologies.
