Teaching and Academic Experiences:
Dr. Zhao used to serve as a part-time instructor teaching Chinese as a foreign language to international students at Sun Yat-sen University for 2 years. During her 5 years’ doctoral studies at Miami University, she independently taught a variety of college English writing and rhetoric courses, including First-Year Composition and Rhetoric, Academic Writing, Multimodal/Digital Writing, Business/ESP Writing, Multilingual Writing, Intercultural Writing, etc. She was once titled "The Outstanding Teacher of the Year." During her stay at Miami University, she also worked as a graduate assistant director of a writing center housed in Miami’s well-known Farmer School of Business. Through these experiences, Dr. Zhao has accumulated rich experience in teaching, curriculum development, and writing center management.
Dr. Zhao is also active in participating in various domestic and international academic conferences and has presented her research papers for more than ten times. She was the winner of two national rhetoric and writing conference awards in the United States (the RSA Gerard A. Hauser Award and the CCCC Scholars for the Dream Travel Award). She also received a full scholarship for dissertation awarded by the Graduate School of Miami University. Up till now, Dr. Zhao has published several articles in both Chinese and English. Her latest co-authored article was published in 2021 by Routledge, the internationally renowned academic publisher, in the bookThe Routledge Handbook of Comparative World Rhetorics.
